DESIGNPHILADELPHIA BRANDING & KICK-OFF INSTALLATION

Grace Ong Yan designed the branding and Kick-off Installation for DesignPhiladelphia WITH A site ACROSS THE STREET from the Rafael Vinoly-designed Kimmel Center FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS. The design involved two scales of interaCtion: SUPER-GRAPHICS SIGN & INTRICATE WALLS. BOTH ELEMENTS EFFECTIVELY engageD the street and creatED a transformative environment within the lot.

On the lot, a labyrinth design was defined by a modular wall system, infilled with laser-cut Corian.

WALLS: The DesignPhiladelphia logo was used to create a graphic. Many scales of the logo were arranged in a field. This created a brand identity for the installation. The walls enveloped a seating space, defined by benches and a red "carpet."
