DESIGN: “Urban Blacktop”
GRACE ONG ENTERED HER PROPOSAL, "URBAN BLACKTOP," INTO THE Petrosino Park Revitalization Competition Sponsored by Storefront for Art & Architecture in New York City. "URBAN BLACKTOP" WAS Chosen for Exhibition IN THE GALLERY.
"URBAN BLACKTOP" proposED community inhabitation FOR a street median AND tested the question of how architectural elements could spur human interaction in an open public space. "urban blacktop" was composed of simple surfaces that would instigate programmed and informal interaction: performances, rallies, meetings, parties, as well as places to sit, people watch, chat.
